Suffolk Construction CEO named Chamber of Commerce Chair

John FishJohn Fish, Chairman and CEO of Suffolk Construction Co., has been named the new chairperson of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Chamber Board Chairs serve for two years, according to both the Boston Globe and the BBJ. His term will begin May 14. Fish’s business success speaks for itself. The Founder and CEO of Suffolk Construction, one of the region’s largest builders, Fish began the journey 30 years ago. Active in area charities, Fish also serves on a number of boards for prominent Boston-area institutions. Fish is also a board member of the Olympic Evaluation Commission which has been tasked to evaluate Boston’s ability to host the 2024 summer Olympics. 

The Chambers current Chair, Karen Kaplan, CEO of the advertising firm Hill Holliday, believes Fish’s experiences will serve him well as the Chamber’s new leader.

The mission of the Chamber of Commerce to promote and advocate on behalf of the businesses it represents. The three goals of the Chamber as outlined on its website are Strategic Networking to help make strategic connections with other professionals, both in person and online; Business Advocacy to help shape the policies that support and improve the business climate and competitiveness of the region; Leadership Development to cultivate the business leaders of today and tomorrow.
