TEEN CENTER
During the week of February School Vacation, the Teen Center was well utilized, and we were pleased to see on any given day between 20-30 teens hanging out and having fun. The teens kept busy, enjoying themselves with all sorts of activities, playing video games, card games, board games, as well as watching movies on Netflix. They were also treated to pizza and chicken fingers on Wednesday, thanks to the Tynan Council. It was a pleasure for Al Smith, Youth Worker, to interact and get to know the teens better. Highlights of the week were Bella Thomas and Lilly Austin beating Al and Katie in NBA2K18.
FENWAY PARK BATTING CAGES
The youth had a chance to visit Fenway Park Batting Cage and catch up on their hitting skills. All the kids did a great job hitting, as they prepare themselves for the upcoming Little League season. Hard workers were Evan Pierce, Eric Manning, Thomas Gillis, Derek Austin, and Tommy Brooks.
YOUTH FLOOR HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
The two top teams squared off in the championship game. Both teams played hard, as they exchanged goals, for a high scoring game. Jerry O’Neil’s team would be too much for Sam Flood’s team and they would pull out the win. On the winning team were Jerry O’Neil, Jonathan McCarthy, John Jankoskie, and Wence Otieno.
Boston University Hockey Game
On Friday February 23rd, some of the kids got a chance to watch two of the top teams in all of college hockey play against each other. BU would win the game against Vermont 2-0 in what was an exciting game. It was even more special to go to the game because the kids got to watch Southie’s own Liam Coughlin who plays for Vermont. Kids who went were Ryan Alexander, Joe DiBlasi, Nolan Young, Sam Flood, Liam Long, Mario Blasi, Roco Blasi, Ryan Mcgarrell, and Terry Marcos. Special thanks to Ryan Long for helping out as well.
