On March 14th, even though the weather was cold, and the streets were buried in snow from the most recent blizzard, the crowd turned out at Capo Restaurant for the Team Speed of Light charity fundraising event. The weather is seldom an issue to people when there is a good cause to turn out for and this night was no exception. The event honored the 7 runners who will be representing Team Speed of Light at this year’s Boston Marathon.
The Light Foundation is the non-profit organization founded by former New England Patriots great Matt Light. It helps at-risk to experience athletic and educational opportunities that they might otherwise not be able to.
At the Capo event, Matt Light himself along with Rob Ninkovich mingled with the guests while BAA Race Director Dave McGillivray offered some words of advice and inspiration to the runners. The event was sponsored by Energi, 12 Points Wealth and 98.5 Sports Hub. Guests had a blast in the interactive photo booth which showed them running through the Marathon finish line. Others enjoyed delicious Capo appetizers and sipped on complimentary Harpoon Beer and Keel Vodka drinks.
