| Will advocate for increased safety and state funding
David Biele, a candidate for State Representative for the 4th Suffolk District, this week announced his public safety and traffic priorities, calling for investments in our roadways. As part of his campaign, Biele has spoken with residents about improving the efficiency and reliability of transportation, especially as the City of Boston continues to grow.
Biele stated, “Over the course of the campaign, I have spoken with residents and parents who are concerned with pedestrian safety along the streets of South Boston, especially Day Boulevard, Farragut Road, and L Street. There is a real public safety risk from speeding motor vehicles and cut-through traffic for individuals and families. We have seen too far many accidents at these intersections involving individuals who only want to cross the street to use our beaches, parks, and fields.”
Biele continued, “I’ve also spoken with residents who are concerned with the increasing amount of traffic on our streets, especially in areas like Kosciuszko Circle, A Street, Dorchester Avenue, Preble Street, L Street, and Old Colony Avenue, which negatively impact the quality of life in our neighborhoods.”
He concluded, “The Commonwealth has authorized $25 million to implement transportation improvements. As your next State Representative, I will push our state agencies to spend that money on priorities in residential South Boston, like traffic signals and traffic calming measures on Day Boulevard and Farragut Road and improvements at bottlenecks like Kosciuszko Circle, before spending money on business priorities down the Waterfront. Money has been authorized for these safety and transportation measures, and we need to make sure it is spent in our neighborhood to address the roadway safety and traffic concerns on our streets.”
Biele is a lifelong resident of South Boston where he has been deeply engaged with local community-based organizations. He serves as president of the Harry McDonough Sailing Center, board member of the South Boston Boys & Girls Club, and is actively involved with South Boston Special Kids and Young Adults and TEAM Mentoring Program through Catholic Charities’ Labouré Center. Biele was a longtime staffer to Nick Collins in his State Representative Office, working on policy, legislation, and constituent services. He is a graduate of Boston Latin School, Boston College, and Boston College Law School. |
