Skin Cancer, like most medical issues is a problem best avoided by preventative measures. In the mid summer months when the sun is so strong, it’s always best to be protected. But it’s not just June, July and August that caution should be used, and sun screen applied. It’s best to take step to protect yourself year-round.
On August 1st, from 10am to 2pm, the Dana – Farber Skin Cancer screening van will be at Carson beach in South Boston and skin screening will be offered to the public at no charge. On hand to do the screening will be a certified dermatologist from Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The screening van comes with a fully equipped exam room and class room, internet access and you will receive information and materials that will help educate you on the best methods to protect yourself from the damaging effects of getting too much sun. The van visits health fairs, beaches, business locations and many other public and special events in the ongoing effort to combat skin cancer.
