Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn joined the City of Boston, Commissioner of Veterans Services Giselle Sterling, officers from the Boston Police Department and dozens of volunteers for Operation Thank A Veteran over the weekend. The initiative consisted of volunteers knocking on the doors of South Boston veterans and military families to thank them for their service to our nation, while also providing information packages regarding services available to them through the City of Boston.
“I would like to thank Mayor Walsh, Commissioner Sterling, the staff from Veterans Services, members of the Boston Police Dept. and so many volunteers that assisted in these efforts to recognize the contributions of our strong veterans’ community in South Boston,” said Flynn. “This outstanding outreach and turnout demonstrated the respect our city and neighborhood have for the sacrifices made by our veterans and military families. It was an honor to be in the presence of so many individuals who served our country.”
“President John F. Kennedy once said,’ A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.’ Being able to thank our South Boston veterans & military families and inform them of the services and benefits they earned is the least we can do to show our eternal gratitude.”
