Parishioners and Communicants enjoyed a wonderful ‘Taste of Irish’ breakfast following the 9:00 Mass last Sunday at Gate of Heaven Church. The lower hall was the scene where approximately 70 people came to share their faith, talk about the neighborhood, compare notes on their good health and enjoy eggs, home fries, baked ham, baked beans, coffee, tea and donuts courtesy of Nick Collins.
The volunteers, who have revived this tradition at Gate of Heaven are Mary Maiullari, Karen Evans and Mary McCarthy Collins. Father Casey regaled his flock with the moving Irish song, the Fields of Athenry. The gathering included a visit from Nick Collins, Mike Flaherty as well as Ray and Kathy Flynn and Ed Flynn and several Flynn family members.
“It’s our pleasure to be a part of bringing the community of Gate of Heaven together like this. We love this parish with all of our hearts and want to spread love and goodness for many years to come,” stated Mrs. Maiullari.
“Working with Mary and Karen to reestablish a Gate of Heaven tradition is so important to the growth of our parish community”, added Mrs. McCarthy Collins.
The parish will announce the next Coffee & Conversation dates very soon in the parish bulletin.
