Governor’s Councilor Christopher A. Iannella, a Democrat, has announced his candidacy for re-election in the September 4th Primary. Councilor Iannella represents the fourth district.
Christopher Iannella was educated at the Boston Latin School, Boston College, and Suffolk University Law School. He is admitted to practice as an attorney in all courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
According to Iannella, the Governor’s Council has many important functions. “First and foremost, the Council must approve all judicial appointments,” Iannella said, “We must ensure that Judicial Nominees be fit in temperament, character, experience, and legal skills.” He continued by saying that he has kept his promise to make sure every judge knows how to be both firm and fair. Iannella went on to say that each judge must understand the importance of drug treatment and rehabilitation.
“The Governor’s Council appoints members of the parole board,” Councilor Iannella continued, “I am committed to appointing more members of the parole board with a social science background. We need more psychologists and social workers on the parole board so that those with addiction and mental health issues are more easily reintegrated into society.”
The Governor’s Council has the authority to approve or reject state contracts. Iannella said that, “we can spot fraud, abuse and wasteful spending by studying these contracts closely.
Iannella continued his statement by saying, “I will always be thankful for the trust the voters have placed in me by electing me to the Governor’s Council. I appreciate the opportunity to serve as the citizens’ eyes and ears on the Council. I will continue to do my very best to represent our district.”
Councilor Iannella is honored by the endorsement of Mayor Marty Walsh.
Iannella urged local residents to vote on September 4th and said that any voter with questions may call him at 617-227-1538.
