I would like to thank Brian Wallace for his recent
article
“The Places I Remember.”
Brian, I must say, you
captured the heart and soul of West Broadway of our youth in such a vivid way
that both my wife Charlene (originally from west 4th St.) and myself from F
St., both felt like we were on a walking tour of our Southie! We laughed
at the reference to Mrs. Gagin behind the counter at the Bway show and remember
ordering a 55 cent banana split from Woolworth’s cafeteria. We still have a
bedroom set we bought 50 years ago at Ellis Furniture and as kids were in an
out of virtually every store mentioned in your article. Although in
Florida now, our hearts still have a fond spot for our Hometown South Boston.
Thank you,
Kevin and Charlene Walsh
