On Sunday, January 13 at the McDonough gym located within the Walsh Community Center, the Metro Energy Club defeated the Jack McDonough Club, 42-38, to finish in first place for the regular season in the Gate of Heaven CYO cadet basketball house league.
It was a close tilt but the McDonough Club, missing sharpshooter, Ed Murray, couldn’t contain Jake (aka “The Distributor”) Harrison who scored sixteen points and dished out six assists, and slick lefty guard, Owen Donovan, who contributed ten points. To round out the scoring for the Metro Energy Club, Sam Heller and Ethan Clark had five points apiece, while shifty guard, Alex Polena, knocked down two three-pointers from the corner. For the Jack McDonough Club, Robert Wisniewski was in the zone netting twenty points (including four treys) while Lydon McGarrell, Nolan Callow, and Tommy White, had five points apiece.
The Metro Energy Club finished with a 6-3 record to edge out the McDonough Club (5-4) and the Boston Home Inspector Club (5-4) for the regular season divisional title. The second season starts Sunday, January 20. At 11 a.m. the P.S. Deli Club (2-7) will battle the Metro Energy Club, and at noon, the Boston Home Inspector Club will play the Jack McDonough Club. The championship game will be played on Sunday, January 27 at 11 a.m.
