Annual Distinction Recognizes Exemplary Boston Public Schools Educators
The Boston Public Schools (BPS), City of Boston, and the Boston Teachers Union (BTU) are pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Boston Educator of the Year Awards. The Educator of the Year Awards recognize exemplary educators who go above and beyond to positively influence the lives of BPS students.
“We have so many amazing educators throughout the city, working to improve lives and provide a positive influence for students of the Boston Public Schools,” said Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “The Educator of the Year Awards offers the City an opportunity to showcase the admirable efforts of those teachers who work hard every day to make a lasting impact on our students.”
All BPS stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, school staff, students, families, community members, and partners, are invited and encouraged to nominate exceptional educators to honor their devotion to their work.
“Every year I look forward to seeing the Educator of the Year Award nominations and learning more about the incredible work happening in our BPS classrooms,” said Boston School Committee Chairperson Michael Loconto. “It’s essential that we take the time to recognize our great educators and the dedication they bring to their work each and every day.”
The nomination period is now open. Please visit www.bostonpublicschools.org/eoy to nominate an educator. Groups that wish to support the nomination of one educator or co-teaching pair are encouraged to compile all submissions and complete one submission form. Nominations are subject to review, approval, and confirmation by the BTU and the BPS Office of Human Capital. All submissions must be received by March 4, 2019.
