ON TUESDAY, I ASK FOR YOUR VOTE

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Next Tuesday, September 4th, will conclude the primary campaign for the open state representative seat here in the 4th Suffolk District. I would like to thank you for the hospitality, courtesy, and energy you have given to me, my family, and our supporters as we knocked on thousands of doors throughout South Boston, Dorchester, and Fort Point over the summer.

Since the campaign began, I have heard from you about many issues facing our community, whether at house parties, over the phone, at public meetings, or at your front door.

You’ve shared your concerns about services for our young people, seniors, and veterans. You’ve shared your frustrations about transportation and high costs of housing in our neighborhoods. You’ve expressed your anxiety and fear about the opiate crisis and safety in our neighborhoods. Most importantly, you’ve expressed your love for our community and hope for it to be even better than it is today.

Over the course of the campaign, I’ve led on the issues you care about – as the the first candidate to propose a plan to fix our transportation and safety challenges, take the opiate crisis head on, hold state agencies accountable, invest in our youth, seniors and veterans, while supporting our local businesses and standing up against overdevelopment.

The two most important things an elected official can do are to listen and to act. So,

When we called for the installation of new traffic signals and traffic calming measures at problem areas across the district and proposed creating a Neighborhood Transportation Council, I channeled your voice.

When I proposed filing legislation to mandate insurance companies cover long-term treatment services and expanding intervention tools for first responders and medical professionals by creating an option for a 72-hour hold on persons who have overdosed, I channeled your voice.

When I committed to holding state agencies and developers accountable to the community, I channeled your voice.

When I declared that I would advocate for further investing in enrichment programs for our youth and better services for our seniors and veterans, I channeled your voice.

I am running for State Representative because I love our community and believe I am best able to channel your voice in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

As an attorney with legislative experience in the State House, I have attended hundreds of community meetings and public hearings, helped secure funding for our community-based non-profit service providers and capital investments our community. With so much at stake, we need a State Representative that is committed and able to step in on day one and hit the ground running.

If elected, I will be accessible, I will continue to listen, and I will work hard every day to deliver by bring resources and positive changes to our community. Again, thank you for your time, attention, and support over the course of this campaign.

I humbly ask for your vote on Tuesday, September 4.

Sincerely,

David Biele
