Boston Police report that they made an arrest last Monday which resulted in a loaded illegal firearm being taken off the street. At about 3:35pm on Monday, February 6th, officers assigned to the District C-6 South Boston Drug Control Unit arrested a known suspect on firearm and drug related charges in the area of 27 McDonough Way in South Boston. The suspect was Keon Baker, 26, a South Boston resident who was stopped as part of a drug investigation at which time the officers performed a ‘pat and frisk’ search of his person which led to the recovery an illegal 9mm Kel-Tec Lugar semi-automatic handgun.
The firearm was located in the suspect’s pants waistband. When officers asked if the gun was loaded, the suspect responded “Yes, one in the chamber and 10 in the mag”. Officers also recovered a small bag of crack cocaine from the suspect’s pants pocket. Baker was placed in custody and will appear in South Boston District Court on numerous charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs.
