Powers Apartments Cookout was a delightful Success.
Ok, so maybe the weather for the Memorial Day weekend wasn’t the best and certainly not as good as the meteorologists had been predicting all week leading up to it. But happily, the sun did shine and bring pleasant temperatures for the annual Memorial Day weekend cookout at the Monsignor Powers Apartments on L Street. With live music on hand and hearty appetites in abundance, the stage was set for a good time that always accompanies this newly created tradition.
The well prepared burgers, hot dogs and chicken were complimented by a large assortment of delicious salads of just about every kind; oh and the desserts of homemade cookies and brownies and fruits, all of them a delicious and a great treat. The soft drinks and coffee were flowing and tasty and by any standards the spread was of banquet proportions. But what really made the cookout so special as it does every year was the people themselves. The residents and friends of the Powers Apartments all gathered together to enjoy each other’s company at one of the nicest social gatherings around.
That this excellent party was held on the Memorial Day weekend made it even more special. As members of the crowd were enjoying themselves they were also remembering what this weekend in particular was set aside for. It was to remember those veterans who gave their lives so that all Americans could remain free; a sentiment that was definitely not lost on all those in attendance. The court yard was decorated in a sea of red, white and blue with Old Glory waving proudly in the breeze. It was just one of the ways those who reside at the Powers Apartments show their patriotism and respect for America’s heroes.
The annual Powers Apartment Memorial Day Weekend Cookout was a success in every way. With so many wonderful people in attendance and involved in the preparation, it was a guarantee that it would all turn out so well.
