Representative David Biele is currently serving his first term in the Massachusetts House
Of Representatives. A lifelong resident of South Boston, David grew up playing organized sports and attended St. Peter School and Boston Latin School. David graduated from Boston College, completing his degree in three years, and was the first person in his family to receive a college degree. He then attended Boston College Law School, where he represented tenants in housing law cases.
“The executive board and I look forward to working with Representative Biele, to ensure once again the success of this unique community celebration, the commemoration of the British evacuation of Boston in 1776,” said McGrath. “Everyone is aware of his commitment and genuine devotion to the community of South Boston. While a Legislative Aid with then Rep. Collins, Dave was assisting the Executive Board with all the behind the scene work that helps put on these events. Dave is a lifelong resident and has been active member of the SBCA. His dedication to the South Boston Citizens’ Association and the neighborhood of South Boston will make him stronger throughout his life and political career. We are honored to list him as a member, and even prouder to name him this year’s General Chairman.”
McGrath also stated “I have known Dave since his Little League and Youth Hockey days and now I will continue to work with him on many community issues that will try to improve the quality of life in South Boston. While the citizens of South Boston see the three weeks of celebration with each year’s Evacuation Day celebration, there are another 12-15 weeks of preparation to put it all together. Dave works side by side with other dedicated SBCA members in those hectic weeks, licking stamps, making phone calls and doing whatever it takes.”
David has been deeply engaged with local community-based programs and volunteer
programs here in South Boston for many years. He currently mentors local youth through
the TEAM Mentoring Program at South Boston’s Labouré Center, and has also served on
the advisory board for the South Boston Boys and Girls Club. David also served as
President of the Harry McDonough Sailing Program and volunteers with South Boston
Special Kids and Young Adults.
Prior to entering public office, Biele spent four years working in the Massachusetts State
House on policy, legislation, and
constituent services. He also worked as a hearing officer for the Department of
Public Utilities, developing evidentiary records and crafting legal decisions.
